Home Renovation Without Aggravation

Think 2016 might finally be the year to tackle that big home renovation project you’ve been putting off? Welcome to the club. Fueled largely by the rebounding housing market, home improvement spending is projected to reach $155 billion this year, surpassing the peak set in 2006, according to Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. At the same time, the construction industry is in the throes of a massive labor shortage, having shed more than 2 million jobs since 2007.

Bernalillo County wants to consolidate, considers building purchase

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Bernalillo County is taking another look at a piece of prime real estate up for sale. Commissioners say they could use the building to consolidate their operations and lower costs. Alvarado Square would offer the county more than 282,478 square feet of space. The county first looked at the property back in 2013, but negotiations fell through. Now, the owners have dropped the asking price by more than $5 million. Commissioners told KRQE News 13 the county has been looking for a building in which they could fit their operations for at least 10 years now. Alvarado Square looked like a good buy several years ago and the county had money but there were issues, like parking. Now, owners have dropped the asking price from $11.1 million to $6 million.

When the Federal Reserve raised its interest rates late last year, most mortgage rate prognosticators saw it as a sure sign that home-loan rates would finally rise meaningfully. In fact, just the opposite has happened. The average rate on the popular 30-year fixed loan is now at its lowest level of the year and could potentially head lower into new record territory.

Bernalillo County Real Estate Market Continues Growth Trend in New Listings | Published:...

With a new upward trend of new sellers listing homes, including two over the last 30 days, and sales that remained the same at one in that same time frame, the Bernalillo County market will be steady. All indications show that the trend may be coming to an end, meaning less new listings over the next few weeks. The median sales price in Bernalillo County stayed put this week at $659,794. In spite of flat sales, a low two months of inventory signals that Bernalillo County is a solid seller's market.
